KOH SAMUI
The third largest island in Thailand after Phuket and Koh Chang, Koh Samui offers some of the best beaches in Thailand. With a total area of 250 square kilometers, Koh Samui is located 700 km south of Bangkok in Surat Thani province Thailand. There is a 55 kilometer ring road on the island which makes it convenient to travel from beach to beach.
Koh Samui's best beaches line the northern and eastern coasts, the most popular being Chaweng and Lamai where, generally, the most attractive accommodation is found. Besides beaches, other island attractions include the Hin Lat and Na Muang waterfalls the phallic rock formations at the southern end of Lamai Bay; a massive seated Buddha image of Fan isle and Na Thon, the island's major seafront settlement where shops, restaurants, tour agencies and hotels are located.
Koh Samui offers a large variety of accommodation for all tastes and budgets. Hotels located on Chaweng Beach provide the best location: close to all activities , but far enough for privacy.
The best time to visit Koh Samui is late December through September. Visitors during other months may encounter heavy rains and torrential storms.
